1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL...is completed

Ugh....the Rides edition Galaxie.

I am hoping to bring this one back to it's stock glory, with a little twist.  The twist is that I will be building this one with not the single carb 427, but the R-code with dual quads.  The parts will be sourced from the AMT '66 Fairlane.  Originally was going to do the complete motor swap, but the oil pan on the Fairlane motor hit the crossmember on the frame, pushing it forward.  I tried a couple of different oil pans, and came away with the same result.  I really don't feel like hacking at the crossmember to make it fit properly, so I'll be using the Galaxie's block as the starting point.

Color will be factory Prairie Bronze Metallic, from Model Car World.  I'm a little torn yet on interior color.  Was going to go with a medium saddle, then changed my mind and ordered some of MCW's light saddle.  Now I kinda wish I would have stayed with my first choice as it is even lighter than I was thinking it would be.  In my mind I am thinking of going with a color a few shades lighter than the Prairie Bronze.   I'll come up with a decision soon.

With some conversing via email with Fury3 about the build, he pointed me to Modelhaus for the stock wheel covers I was going to need.  He has also given me some great coaching in regards to MCW's paint, as I am a newb to the stuff.  I gotta give you two thumbs up Dave, you have been of great assistance! Thumbs UpThumbs Up  The wheel covers look excellent and can't wait to get some paint splashed on the body.

I've also rounded up some tires that should allow fitment of the wheel covers.  I think I should be able to get the stock ride hight dialed in since the stock rear axle is included, and up front, besides the drop spindles, are some three position spindles.

Though I am not trying to replicate this car, as it is a Custom 500,  here is the 1:1 that perked my interest and got the ideas flowing for this build.  Talk about a sleeper!
