The current Lamborghini Aventador has been unveiled with a new ISR transmission that weights only 174 lbs. And now the company announced that all the future supercar coming from S’ant Agata will drop the manual transmission in favor of a fully automated seven-speed single-clutch transmission.
According to Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s R&D director, a manual transmission is "a break in the electronic chain of command that harmonizes absolutely everything that happens between engine combustion chamber and tire contact patch. The only way Lamborghini can guarantee soothing smoothness in city driving or back-thumpingly explosive acceleration on a winding road is for every system in the car to be interconnected. You can’t rely on a driver to always shift gears without glitches."
Also he said that the next Gallardo (known as the Cabrera) won’t be the only new model coming from the company. In the next few months Lamborghini will make a finally decision in offering or not a production version of the Sesto Elemento supercar.
