Just saw the ad/announcement for this last night.
LOVE the box art. I've always thought the AMT '66 annuals had the finest box art in the history of model cars. No, this is NOT a reproduction of the original art, but all-new art in the same style and layout as the '66 annual art. I MIGHT buy one of these for the box alone.
Now, as to the model inside, it looks it's gonna be the same old '66 Mustang that's been reissued approximately four dozen times since the "Countdown" boxing of the late '70s. The original 1966 Mustang coupe was very different. For one thing, it was a convertible with separate hardtop AND a custom half-roof (very fashionable and cool in the mid-'60s). It also had custom parts that were never seen in any of the reissues.
Can't wait to see a full, detailed review of this one (Tim?) to see if there are any new parts--or, better yet, resurrected old parts--included, but I'm not wildly optimistic about that happening. Ah shucks oh well, the box art is cool, anyway.
