at the request of a few members here. i'm posting my 1:8 scale outlaw 10,5 camaro build. with the exception of the camaro body, the TDR modular rear center section and TDR rear brake calipers, RB MOTION rod ends, spark plug boots, and bolt details, and other assorted hardware. this model is ENTIRELY scratch built. there are NO r.c. car parts used. while i am no artist, i try to start each project with a hand drawn rendering. to help keep my mind in a specific direction. these projects take so much time, it's easy to loose ones way.
the rendering:
the engine starts with a raised deck, raised cam, 4.84 bore spacing aftermarket block . it has symmetrical port Olds prostock style cylinder heads. jesel belt drive cam and dist. split dominator carbs, sheetmetal intake, 2 stages of nitrous (1 port , 1 viper system). 5 stage dry sump oil system and a vacuum pump. after machining most of the parts in ren-shape they were cast in resin.the trans is a bruno/ lenco setup that was machined from ren-shape.
the engine/trans:
the chassis is a tube brass unit i soldered together. front struts and a coil over 4 link rear make up the suspension.
the chassis:
the wheels and tires are made up of american pro series 16x16 rear beadlock wheels and 10.5/33-16 outlaw spec slicks on the rear and 15x4 wheels w/ 25.0/5x15 front tires.
the wheels and tires:
this is where the project is now. i hope to have it in paint for the NNL EAST but, i'll have to see how things go from here.
hope you enjoy.
if you wish to look at more of the camaro (or any of my other projects) here is my photobucket.
